Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

If you don’t see your question answered below, please email volunteering@murdochguild.com.au to get in touch!

How do I get started?

Click the button above to view and sign up to our upcoming events. New events are being added all the time.

What do volunteering events look like?

We send out small teams of volunteers to all kind of events. Hosts will be expecting you and will guide and support you through the tasks. Information on the tasks can be found in the event sign up information. We aim to have a range of events to suit different skills and interests.

Do I have to attend all the events?

Absolutely not. We are aiming to offer many different events on different times and days to suit everyone’s needs. We will keep adding new events so continue to check back at https://www.murdochguild.com.au/volunteering/

I can no longer attend an event I have signed up to. What do I do?

If you can no longer attend the event, please let us know as soon as possible via volunteering@murdochguild.com.au.

How does the transcript recognition part of the program work?

Students who complete 40 hours of volunteering with GIVE within 365 days can apply to have this contribution recognised on their academic transcript via the Community and Employability Pathway Transcript. Each time you attend a GIVE Volunteer Event you will be able to log those hours towards your 40. You will be emailed Student Volunteer Log before your first event. Simply fill in the hours, have the host/supervisor sign off and email it back to volunteering@murdochguild.com.au.

Can I have my other volunteering experience recognised?

GIVE is only able to recognise hours logged at GIVE Volunteer Events.

How long do I have to complete the 40 hours?

40 hours must be completed within 365 days to be considered for transcript recognition. The 365 days start from the date of your first volunteering event.

I don’t feel like I can commit to 40 hours, can I still volunteer?

Of course! There are lots of benefits to volunteering. Satisfaction in knowing you are helping the community, meeting likeminded people and employers always like to see experience on CVs. You are always welcome to join GIVE volunteer events.
